In 2021 the Sydney Symphony Fellowship Program celebrated its 20th anniversary, and Roger his 20th year as Artistic Director of the program. Roger is proud to have helped it grow into one of the leading orchestral training programs in the world. Up to 16 Fellowships are awarded annually. A Fellowship with the Sydney Symphony provides access to the nation's best orchestral mentors and leading conductors, as well as masterclasses with the finest international artists and the benefit of a thorough approach to the final stages of training for musicians of the future. Through an intensive one-year fellowship integrating chamber music, mentored orchestral playing, specially designed workshops and outreach work, the program aims to offer a vital stepping stone from study to work, and prepare musicians as thoroughly as possible for their future careers. Alumni of the program have won positions in all the Australian orchestras as well as in the Concertgebouw, Leipzig Gewandhaus and London Philharmonic Orchestras.
